El cortometraje del director y realizador José Luis López “El reloj de Paula” obtiene el apoyo del Gobierno de España a través del Alto Comisionado para la lucha contra la Pobreza Infantil, por considerarlo de interés público por su contribución en la sensibilización social respecto al problema del maltrato infantil.

El Consejo de Europa estima que uno de cada cinco menores —especialmente las niñas— es víctima de violencia sexual. Sin embargo, las denuncias en España sólo representan el 4% de los casos totales, según cálculos de las fundaciones que trabajan con la infancia. Los casos que llegan al sistema representan la punta del iceberg de un fenómeno soterrado cuya magnitud real es difícil de conocer, debido tanto a la heterogeneidad en los registros como a las dificultades para detectar los casos.
La protección de la integridad física del menor es uno de los derechos fundamentales de los niños y niñas. Además, proteger a la infancia de la violencia o el maltrato —así como de la pobreza, la discriminación o la exclusión de cualquier forma de participación social que otorgue mayores oportunidades vitales— contribuye a preservar el futuro capital humano, económico y social de un país y también su dignidad como sociedad.

The short film by José Luis López “Pauline’s clock” obtains the support of the Government of Spain through the High Commissioner for the Fight against Child Poverty, considering it of public interest for its contribution in the social awareness of the problem of child abuse.

The Council of Europe estimates that one in five children - especially girls - is a victim of sexual violence. However, the complaints in Spain only represent 4% of the total cases, according to calculations of the foundations that work with children. The cases that reach the system represent the tip of the iceberg of an underground phenomenon whose real magnitude is difficult to know, due to both the heterogeneity in the registers and the difficulties in detecting the cases.

The protection of the physical integrity of the child is one of the fundamental rights of children. In addition, protecting children from violence or abuse - as well as from poverty, discrimination or the exclusion of any form of social participation that provides greater life opportunities - contributes to preserving the future human, economic and social capital of a country and also its dignity as a society.
